The breeding season starts.

Perhaps due to the unseasonably mild weather of late, i.e. very few frosts, almost no snow and mild temperatures, today: Dunnocks, Song Thrushes and Starlings are starting to establish territories. Starlings have been using the Swift nest box on the side of my house all winter, perhaps to roost. But today they are displaying breeding behaviour.

At Alder House, Endon (in which pharmacy, nursery etc. are situated), Jackdaws have started building their nest,

A male Starling proclaims its territory.
