Greylag Goose There has been one individual living alongside Canada Geese for a few years
Canada Goose Breed along Caldon Canal. Flock of c250 overwinter in local fields. Use SP and nearby fields at times
Mandarin Duck Pairs visit Deep Hayes Country Park and reside/breed in Churnet Valley
Wigeon In autumn/winter seen on temporary pools between Endon and Longsdon and on pools in DHCP
Mallard Resident breeder along Caldon Canal and surrounding farmland.
Teal In autumn/winter seen on temporary pools between Endon and Longsdon, on pools in DHCP, on small pool at SP and on Endon Brook
Tufted Duck One pair bred on CC 2013. Seen in winter on pools in DHCP and The Ashes
Goosander In autumn/winter on Endon Brook and on pools in DHCP
Pheasant Plenty of these about (9 in my garden 2013), some may be escapes from nearby shoots, others offspring from naturalised pairs. A few years ago one female sited nest on disused railway
Little Grebe Seen in autumn/winter in DHCP
Great Crested Grebe Seen in autumn/winter in DHCP and on SP. Also at least on pair bred on SP 2013 (I saw parents feeding young)
Cormorant Seen on SP winter. Occasionally seen flying along route of CC.
Little Egret One seen 2012 on stream running through Endon Riding School
Grey Heron Seen along CC, SP, DHCP and along Endon Brook and in surrounding farmland
Buzzard Seen in ones, twos threes and more all year. 2012 and 2013 bred in tree in large garden Stockton Brook, also probably breed in DHCP
Red Kite Single bird seen flying over Endon spring 2013
Sparrowhawk Resident.
Kestrel Resident. Bred in tree (poss. old corvid nest) in field hedge between CC and disused railway 2012 and probably bred in field barn 2013
Merlin Seen occasionally hunting over farmland in winter
Hobby Seen once chasing bird prey over CC between Endon and Stockton Brook (presume nest nearby)
Peregrine Occasional sightings of single hunting Peregrine over fields between Endon and Longsdon (breed in Staffs Peak District)
Water Rail Dead bird found on CC towpath between Endon and Stockton Brook 2012
Moorhen Present all year, breeds on CC.
Coot DHCP and SP
Oystercatcher x3 birds frequently seen flying over Station Rd. area of Endon 2011 and 2012, not seen 2013 (one pr. bred at Tittesworth 2012). Also seen on island in pool at The Ashes and in winter in shallow temporary pool nr. Cheddleton
Lapwing One or two pairs have bred in local fields most of the past 10 years.Approx.140 birds seen roosting on flooded fields autumn and winters of 2013 and 2014 in winter 2015 c250 birds counted
Dunlin Occasionally seen
Snipe Seen in winter along Endon Brook, in seasonally wet area adjacent to CC between Endon and Stockton Brook
Curlew Are heard calling in spring, seen flying over fields between Endon and Longsdon, possibly breed in rushy area on Manor Farm. Pair regularly seen by sewage works spring 2014 and 2015

Herring Gull Seen feeding in fields alongside other gulls in small groups (under 5) in winter and on SP
Black-headed Gull Seen in hundreds feeding in farmland from late summer through winter, also on CC and SP
Lesser Black-backed Gull Seen feeding in fields alongside other gulls in small groups (under 5) in winter and on SP
Great Black-backed Gull Occasionally fly over
Stock Dove Adults and young my garden feeders; breed in Endon area.
Woodpigeon Abundant all year round

Barn Owl Seen hunting over rough grassland and along disused railway line winter 2012/13
Little Owl Bred at least one year and possibly two 2004/5/6? in fields behind my house. Seen again over a few days spring 2013, but then disappeared.
Tawny Owl Heard calling throughout the winter in farmland behind my house, also seen in nearby gardens and JE land. Also heard at bottom of Clay Lake, Stanley Moss, SB.
Swift Breed in Endon, notably in Alder House, Station Road
Kingfisher Seen along and Endon Brook and CC throughout the year, less so since 2010.
Great Spotted Woodpecker Visit garden feeders, and seen in/on surrounding copses and large trees.
Green Woodpecker Seen along disused railway between Endon and Longsdon all year. Also often seen near Hollybush Inn, Denford.
Swallow Summer visitor, not seen any evidence of breeding in Endon
House Martin Summer visitor, not seen any evidence of breeding in Endon, though nests on house at Hazelhurst Junction.
Pied Wagtail Generally seen only during autumn/winter, in numbers at edges of temporary pools nr. Dunwood.
Grey Wagtail Have bred on CC in past (on lock on CC at Stockton Brook). Also seen on CC by overflow by Park Lane and Endon Brook near where it passes under Station Road
Meadow Pipit Seen in and near Endon Sewage works during winter, and along disused railway line nr. Dunwood and temporary pools nr. Dunwood.
Waxwing Flock seen in Station Road Endon winter 2012/13

Sedge Warbler Regularly breeds in small patch of reeds adj. disused railway near Hazlehurst Junct. And in reed fringe along CC.
Whitethroat Breeds in scrub etc. alongside CC between Endon and Stockton Brook (usually more than one pair), also breeds along disused railway line.
Blackcap Breeds along disused railway line and in copses adj. CC between Endon and Stockton Brook. (seen parents feeding young)
Garden Warbler Has bred along disused railway line.
Chiffchaff Usually several territories along disused railway line.
Willow Warbler Breeds along disused railway line.
Goldcrest Mostly heard and seen in large gardens, esp. those with large conifers.
Long-tailed Tit Resident. One nest seen in garden along Brook Lane.
Marsh Tit Occasionally seen and heard along CC and disused railway. Either this species or Willow Tit bred along CC (between Endon and Stockton brook) a few years ago, parents and four young seen)

Magpie Pair bred in my garden 2012. Also breeds along disused railway line (nests visible in winter) and presumably many other places.
Jackdaw Resident flock. Breeds in chimneys of certain houses I my street, tawny Owl nest box in my gdn. , also Alder House Station Road. In 2015 a winter roost established in recent plantation around fishing pools adjacent to CC near Post Bridge.
Rook Rookeries along Brook Lane and in copse adj. CC by Greenway Hall Golf Club plus more.
Carrion Crow Breeds on local farmland.
Raven Regularly began to see a pair flying over my house in 2012. Since then those two plus two more often seen.
Starling Resident. Breeds in my Swift nest box and other places on various of my neighbour's houses.
House Sparrow Breeds in gardens in my street. Also, notably one pair breed in old rusty light fitting on column on disused railway by Station Road.
Tree Sparrow In about 2006 one pair bred in rot hole at top of fence post in my neighbour's field. Regular visitors to my garden feeders in winter). Also seen in Stanley Moss (at edge of Endon Riding School fields).

Siskin Seen in autumn/winter feeding on alder and bird seeds, John Emery Land, DHCP, along disused railway
Linnet One once seen in my garden end of summer a few years ago. After breeding season small flocks seen in Dunwood area. 
Lesser Redpoll Seen in autumn/winter feeding on alder and bird seeds, John Emery Land, DHCP, along disused railway
Bullfinch Seen all year round. In autumn/winter feeds in trees/scrub along disused railway. Seen eating Ash seeds along railway and by SP
Reed Bunting

Wheatear
Ususally breeds in small reed bed by Hazelhurst Junction. Also two, or more, territories in scrub along CC between Endon and Stockton Brook.

Male and female seen on disused railway between Endon and Denford April 2014. Since then, occasionally birds seen during spring and autumn migration of railway line.
