Pheasant | Plenty of these about (9 in my garden 2013), some may be escapes from nearby shoots, others offspring from naturalised pairs. A few years ago one female sited nest on disused railway |
Little Grebe | Seen in autumn/winter in DHCP |
Great Crested Grebe | Seen in autumn/winter in DHCP and on SP. Also at least on pair bred on SP 2013 (I saw parents feeding young) |
Cormorant | Seen on SP winter. Occasionally seen flying along route of CC. |

Curlew | Are heard calling in spring, seen flying over fields between Endon and Longsdon, possibly breed in rushy area on Manor Farm. Pair regularly seen by sewage works spring 2014 and 2015 |

Small flock (3-4 birds) seen once Jan 2014 SP lone juvenile bird on the CC towpath late summer 2015, presumably a migrant resting as it moved south. |
Herring Gull | Seen feeding in fields alongside other gulls in small groups (under 5) in winter and on SP |

Tawny Owl | Heard calling throughout the winter in farmland behind my house, also seen in nearby gardens and JE land. Also heard at bottom of Clay Lake, Stanley Moss, SB. |

Kingfisher | Seen along and Endon Brook and CC throughout the year, less so since 2010. |
Great Spotted Woodpecker | Visit garden feeders, and seen in/on surrounding copses and large trees. |
Green Woodpecker | Seen along disused railway between Endon and Longsdon all year. Also often seen near Hollybush Inn, Denford. |
Swallow | Summer visitor, not seen any evidence of breeding in Endon |
House Martin | Summer visitor, not seen any evidence of breeding in Endon, though nests on house at Hazelhurst Junction. |
Pied Wagtail | Generally seen only during autumn/winter, in numbers at edges of temporary pools nr. Dunwood. |
Grey Wagtail | Have bred on CC in past (on lock on CC at Stockton Brook). Also seen on CC by overflow by Park Lane and Endon Brook near where it passes under Station Road |
Meadow Pipit | Seen in and near Endon Sewage works during winter, and along disused railway line nr. Dunwood and temporary pools nr. Dunwood. |

Jackdaw | Resident flock. Breeds in chimneys of certain houses I my street, tawny Owl nest box in my gdn. , also Alder House Station Road. In 2015 a winter roost established in recent plantation around fishing pools adjacent to CC near Post Bridge. |
Rook | Rookeries along Brook Lane and in copse adj. CC by Greenway Hall Golf Club plus more. |
Carrion Crow | Breeds on local farmland. |
Raven | Regularly began to see a pair flying over my house in 2012. Since then those two plus two more often seen. |
Starling | Resident. Breeds in my Swift nest box and other places on various of my neighbour's houses. |
House Sparrow | Breeds in gardens in my street. Also, notably one pair breed in old rusty light fitting on column on disused railway by Station Road. |

Ususally breeds in small reed bed by Hazelhurst Junction. Also two, or more, territories in scrub along CC between Endon and Stockton Brook. Male and female seen on disused railway between Endon and Denford April 2014. Since then, occasionally birds seen during spring and autumn migration of railway line. |
